Auction with Mom

I woke up with cramps in my legs at 9:55 this morning. I took Hope to the kitchen/laundry room and put her on her leash. I ate fruitcake with a Caffeine Free Diet Sam’s Cola for breakfast. I let Hope off her leash.

Mom wanted to bathe the dogs. She bathed Hope and blew her dry. I put her in her Naughty shirt. Mom bathed Penny and tried to lance the small growth on her head.

I checked email and for comments on my blog.

I got dressed in a nice pair of jeans and a pretty white shirt. I wanted to look nice to go to the church.

I ate a ham, cheese, and homegrown tomato sandwich with a Caffeine Free Diet Sam’s Cola for lunch.

I read a little in The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett.

I packed my cooler and tied Hope on her leash. Mom brought the Explorer to the back of the house.

We stopped at Texaco and filled the Explorer with gas. We went to Sam’s Club and picked up our medicine. We shopped around at Sam’s and Mom bought a shirt for my uncle, a shirt for my brother, and a nice jacket for Alex. The jacket is the same one he bought on his last leave, but instead of $68.00 it was $17.00. He can use another one. We went to Wal-Mart. Mom bought some Christmas decorations that play music and some bandage tape. I managed to get out of Sam’s and Wal-Mart without buying anything. That is a miracle.

We went to the Family Life Center at our church. The church was having the senior’s Lottie Moon Christmas Auction. I went because Mom had no other ride. The meal was over-priced at $8.00. The food was okay at best. The prime rib was overdone and very dry. After the meal, there was singing of Christmas songs. Then the auction began. Mom bought a painting and a gift basket. She donated a tremendous amount of money to Lottie Moon. I did not buy anything because most of the bidding was beyond my budget. We left before the auction was over because Mom was very uncomfortable sitting in the hard chair. She could hardly walk to the Explorer.

When we got home I let Hope loose. I brought in most of the stuff we got in town. Mom was still in pain. I parked the Explorer in the barn even though it was very dark in there.

Mom watched Deal or No Deal and I glanced at parts of it.

I am glad I went with Mom even though it was a senior function. Several people spoke to me and were very nice.

For All the Poets…

I wrote the following poem using the words: poet, pour, courage, page.

Sensitivity of a Poet

It takes courage to be a poet

And pour your soul out

Onto the blank page.

Not many have the spirit

Or the courage to become

A poet and pour all

Their experience out on the page.

A poet pours life

Into each page written

And gives courage to those

Who read the well-wrought words.

Not every page is perfect

However, courage makes a poet

Pour heart into the work.

A Poem for Today

I used these words to write the following poem: reason, imagine, weak, strong.

Strength of Imagination

Imagine the weak become strong

There is no reason this cannot be true

For even the weak have the strength

To imagine wonderful things

And this ability to go beyond reason

Can make a person strong.

With weak reason to sustain them

People forfeit the ability to use

Strong imagination to bolster

Their creativity in all aspects

Of their everyday lives

And they lose much that enlivens them.

The strong must not despise

The weak for there is no reason

To imagine that their positions
Might fail to be reversed

At some time in the future

Where fortune sees fit.

The strong have every reason

To help the weak imagine a time

When their strength increases

For by helping the weak

The strong grow more able

To reason and imagine for themselves.

Leafy Tuesday

I watched my shows and went to bed about 11:45 last night. I woke up at 9:00 this morning. Hope was lying next to my shoulder and sat up when I roused. She jumped off the bed when I turned to put my feet on the floor. I picked her up, took her to the kitchen/laundry room, and tied her on her leash. I ate chocolate cookies and drank a Caffeine Free Diet Sam’s Cola for breakfast. I let Hope loose.

I checked email and my blog.

I read in The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett.

Mom went to see James. She came back with the leaf blower. She started blowing the leaves on the lawn around the house. She asked me to bring some bags outside.

I ate a ham, cheese, and homegrown tomato sandwich with a Caffeine Free Diet Sam’s Cola for lunch.

Mom asked me to come outside and help her bag leaves. We bagged them and I took them to the garden. I also raked the leaves up into piles for us to bag. I carried five bags of wet leaves to the garden. It rained yesterday and I did not think it was a good day to blow leaves, but Mom was determined to do it.

I read some more in The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett.

Hope and I rode up to the mailbox and picked up the mail.

I shaved and was very unhappy about the lack of smoothness on my legs. I took a shower.

Mom cooked macaroni and cheese. I ate macaroni and cheese and drank a Caffeine Free Diet Sam’s Cola for supper.

I checked email. I tried to send an email and Word would not work as my email editor. I tried to repair Word from Outlook. Then I tried to open Word and opened it in Safe Mode. I tried to repair it. When the operation completed I tried to open Word and it would not open. This malfunctioning of Word has been happening a lot lately. I do not know what is wrong with the program. It seems to work fine a little while then completely fails. I hope I can fix it tonight.

Monday in Town

I read a while in The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett and so did not go to bed until 11:45 last night. I woke up at 9:00 this morning. I took Hope to the kitchen/laundry room and tied her up. I ate fruitcake and drank a Caffeine Free Diet Sam’s Cola for breakfast. I let Hope loose.

I drank several cups of coffee with vanilla syrup.

I addressed some Christmas cards for Mom. I called Nestle and asked for an order form in English to get some cups and a crème pitcher. I drink an imported coffee and the order forms included in the jars are written in Spanish.

I read some in The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett.

I packed up my library books and packed a cooler. I took the totes with the library books, the cooler, and put them in the Explorer.

I ate a Lean Cuisine meal with a Caffeine Free Diet Sam’s Cola for lunch.

I tied Hope on her leash. I took my purse and a tote with my book in it and we left for town.

We stopped at the bank for Mom to deposit Alex’s truck payment. Two of Mom’s friends from church were in the parking lot and they talked for a few minutes.

We went to Mom’s doctor appointment. We arrived a few minutes early and we finished with the appointment before her appointment time. I got my shot.

We went to the library and I returned my books and checked most of them out again. I also picked out two more from the new arrivals shelves.

We stopped at Subway and Mom bought a sandwich.

I let Hope loose when we arrived home.

I put the library books in the crates I use as shelves and Hope stood by watching. She knew I had my keys and was hoping to go for a ride.

I took Hope with me and drove the Explorer around the house to put it in the barn. Hope was excited by the ride.

James had a doctor appointment today. He called Mom and told her that they did not find anything new on the CT scan they did last week. His adrenal gland is swollen so they are going to do surgery to take it out. We do not know when it will occur yet.

I read some more in The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett.

I ate a ham, cheese, and homegrown tomato sandwich with a Caffeine Free Diet Sam’s Cola for supper.

I am going to watch Chuck, Heroes, and Journeyman tonight. That is why I am getting this done early.

Satisfied Sunday

I went to bed at 11:00 last night. I woke up at 8:00 this morning. I took Hope to the kitchen/laundry room and tied her up. Mom was getting ready to go to church with June. I ate the last slice of pound cake with a Caffeine Free Diet Sam’s Cola for breakfast. Mom asked me if her leather jacket would look okay over her suit. I told her yes, so she wore it.

I checked email and comments on my blog.

I vacuumed the house. Vacuuming the kitchen and laundry room was very hard because of all the area rugs. The Kirby tries to suck them up and I have to do a lot of lifting and replacing it.

I shaved. I do not like how much hair the electric razor leaves. I hope it starts working better. I took my shower.

I ate a ham, cheese, and homegrown tomato sandwich with a Caffeine Free Diet Sam’s Cola for lunch.

I let Hope loose. I threw a toy for her and when she got it, I had another toy to lure her back. She played chase the toy with me for a while.

I read in The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett.

I played with Hope some more and Penny started chasing the toys too. They played tug of war with one another.

Mom came home. She had been to Martin’s, Church, Folks, Old Time Pottery, K-Mart, and Dollar General. She brought part of her biscuit for the dogs. They loved it. Mom changed into the pajamas I gave her from her suit. She complained of being cold.

I ate deviled eggs, ham, and gumbo with a Caffeine Free Diet Sam’s Cola for supper.

I read some more in The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett.

Mom said if anyone asked what she would like for Christmas to tell them that she would like a king-sized electric blanket. I called Leigh and told her that is what Mom would like. She said that she would get it for her.

I do not really know what I would like for Christmas. I have so much. I would like to have a few books and some CDs, but I can do without them. If anyone could afford it I would like a laptop, but that is beyond everyone’s budget. I guess the thing I could really use most would be getting the air conditioner fixed on my car, but that is mightily expensive.

Alex says he will probably not be able to come home for Christmas because he has barracks duty on the 23rd. It will be a sad Christmas without him. I miss him so much.

It was like Christmas getting to the totes in the corner of my closet yesterday. I have so many nice shirts and sweaters that were stored for the past couple of years. I will love wearing these clothes again.

I hope everyone had a nice weekend and that the coming week is full of blessings.

Always,

Recovering Clothes

I went to bed at 11:30 last night. I woke up at 7:45 this morning. I took Hope to the kitchen/laundry room and tied her up. I ate a slice of pound cake and drank a Caffeine Free Diet Sam’s Cola for breakfast. I let Hope loose. I went back to bed and lay there half awake until !0:00.

I checked my email.

I drank several cups of coffee with vanilla syrup.

I went out to the storage building with Mom and I went through some totes that were stored there. I found one tote full of tee shirts that I brought in the house.

I ate cornbread and turnip greens with a Caffeine Free Diet Sam’s Cola for lunch.

I went into my closet and started moving things out so that I could get to the totes in the corner. Mom helped me get the four totes out. The totes had my winter clothes in them. I stacked them in Alex’s room so that I can get to them. I gave Mom seventeen pair of new winter socks. I also gave her some new shirts I know I cannot wear. I gave her two jogging suits that will not fit me and two pair of one-piece fleece pajamas.

I ate ham and cornbread with a Caffeine Free Diet Sam’s Cola for supper.

I put the stuff I had to move out of the closet back into it.

I am going to read some in The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett.

I hope you all are having a good weekend.

Always,

Jo Ann Wink
